Short Codes

5- to 6-digit numbers, also know as Short Codes are exclusively for text messaging. Short codes are easier to remember. Short codes are provided by our carriers on a 12 month lease. 

Shared Short Codes

Shared short codes have been retired due to their ongoing risk of being shut down if one user misuses it or is non-compliant with their messaging.

Dedicated Short Codes

Short codes are not shared to multiple organizations. Short codes are dedicated to a single organization. Short codes enable the user to create a  wide variety of campaigns including text-to-win and text-to-donate programs. You also get to choose any keyword, rather than worrying about whether or not someone else has already claimed it. Lastly, dedicated short codes allow for proper routing of messages, so you can have prolonged 1-to-1 conversations. Benefits of dedicated short codes however come at additional costs.

Long Codes

Long Codes are the 10-digit numbers that we are all accustomed to. Long codes more quickly identifiable as a phone number than short codes,. Long codes long codes offer the additional advantage of being able to use a single number for calls and texting.

Toll-Free Numbers

Toll-free numbers give the presence of a large, national company. They are also a great option because they give you the power and flexibility of dedicated short codes, but at a fraction of the cost.

A2P Long Code

While wireless carriers and aggregators are not planning to support these numbers until sometime in 2019, this channel will use local 10-digit phone numbers that are provisioned to send mass messages for commercial purposes. A2P long codes essentially work like dedicated short codes, including features available with all of SMS Marketing Services’s.
